Reverend Cheryl Lloyd of the First Unitarian Society of Newton is working to lessen this equity gap. As the coordinator of the William Ellery Channing Elementary School Project, Lloyd is in charge of 24 volunteers (six of which are Newton residents) who do everything from tutoring math to teaching writing skills. Two 15 year old boys are suspected of cutting the barbed wire at the facility late Monday, cutting lines to an alarm, and then damaging an electrical panel and a vent at the top of a 1.3 million gallon water storage tank, said Blackstone Police Lt. Gregory Gilmore.They became suspects after talking about the incident at school, Gilmore added Wednesday.The two boys have been charged with malicious destruction of property, tampering with a public water supply and polluting the water supply, all felonies, and trespassing, Gilmore said. Their names were not released because of their ages.
