Schill: My ‘shots’ are opinions and the funny thing is, if people in Peter’s line of work didn’t ask the questions, they’d have no answers or ‘shots’. That doesn’t excuse the things I’ve said in the past which have been wrong, misinformed or hurtful. I’ve done that and had to rightfully take the heat I deserved in many cases.
If you thinking, would they do this? a better question is, wouldn they? They are operating in a space with essentially zero regulations on their conduct. Expecting businesses that aren regulated to act fairly and ethically is insane. In that situation they will do whatever is best for their bottom line.

Here in NE Ohio, there the running joke that it has 4 seasons: Construction, Construction, Winter, Construction. Our highways/freeways and regular roadways are literally under continuous (re)construction largely due to the weather. We can have near 100F dog days in the summer, and then have 20F brutally cold winter days (Cleveland also has the worst winter weather in the entire country, according to Forbes).

A year ago, eight Syrian families fled the violence of their homeland and immigrated to Greater Boston. They were among the last such refugees allowed into the United States as a result of the Trump administration multiple efforts to ban immigrants from certain majority Muslim countries, including Syria. To smooth the transition, Jewish Family Service of Metrowest launched the Syrian Refugee Humanitarian Project, working with Jewish synagogues, Islamic centers, doctors, dentists, businesses, and an army of volunteers to provide safety, hope and a new life to these immigrants.
Years from now, I expect biomedical research will look much different than it does today. I expect researchers will be able to tap a wide range of data streams, which will not only be accessible, they will all be in a format that can be easily shared and reused. By building upon each other’s data, researchers will be able to collectively accelerate biomedical discovery.
